Guru Hasti Vision Center, Pokaran

Jaisalmer district is one of the aspirational districts among 112 districts identified by Ministry of Panchayati Raj as most backward districts. The geographic terrain and the demographic spread of the district makes Jaisalmer as one of the difficult regions to work in. We have taken up the task of taking eye care to the rural door steps of the district by establishing a VISION CENTER in Pokaran block. Jaisalmer does not have even one ophthalmologist (in government sector) even at the District Hospital and always lags behind in meeting its District Blindness Control Society targets in case of number of cataract surgeries, identification of refractive errors, which are both the primary causes of avoidable blindness.

Hence, to address this issue and to provide approachable, affordable and quality eye care services to the rural population, a VISION CENTER has been established in Pokaran block of Jaisalmer District. This VC is a well-equipped center providing regular out-patient, in-patient, surgical, medical and optical facilities to the rural poor.
